History of the Department of “Kazakh Language and Literature”
At the Zhambyl Pedagogical Institute, the specialty “Kazakh Language and Literature” was established on August 23, 1989, by order No. 217 of the institute.
Approximately 35 people worked at the department. Among them were the founders of the department: Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences, Associate Professor Tasbulatov Kapash Tasbulatovich; Candidate of Philological Sciences, Associate Professor Sadykbekov Rakhim Aytbayevich; Candidate of Philological Sciences, Associate Professor Bayteliyev Altay Ashenovich; Senior Lecturers M. A. Aitzhanova, S. Ismatova, A. Turarova, B. Murtazayeva, A. Bodykova, T. Mukashev, S. Bayseitova, and Zh. Mombekova. At different times, the department was headed by: R. A. Sadykbekov (1989–1993), A. A. Bayteliyev (1993–1999), M. Myrzakhmetov (1999–2000), A. N. Turarova (2000–2010), L. T. Makulova (2010–2011), K. M. Karymbaeva (2011–2013).
Taraz State Pedagogical Institute was established on September 1, 2000 at the Philological Faculty by the departments of Kazakh language and Kazakh literature.
From the 2013-2014 academic year, the departments of "Kazakh Language," "Kazakh Literature," and "Practical Kazakh Language" were merged and reorganized into the "Kazakh Philology" department.
In the 2013 academic year, the Department of Kazakh Philology was established, which has since been renamed the Department of Kazakh Language and Literature. The department is currently headed by T. R. Abdykadyr, a scholar specializing in Alash studies, a recipient of the Y. Altynsarin Medal, and a Best Teacher Award winner, holding a Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences degree and the title of professor. At present, the department employs approximately 25 professors and lecturers.

Partnerships have been established with the Department of Language Development of the Akimat of the Zhambyl Region, the Zhambyl TV channel, regional and city education departments, as well as with several schools.
