The main activities of the department are conducting scientific research and teaching disciplines in the field of transport, organization of transportation, operational traffic, acquisition and production of engineering products, engineering of machines and equipment, oil and gas equipment.

The department has a modern material and technical base, which includes seven specialized laboratories and four specialized rooms. Specialized offices and laboratories are equipped with all the necessary existing stands, mock-ups, engines and equipment for repair and testing of equipment.

Currently, the department has 185 students studying in educational programs. Over the past 3 years, employees of the department have published 12 textbooks, about 60 scientific articles and analytical reviews. In addition, the library has purchased more than 50 different types of technical literature.

Since the creation of the department, in different years he worked as the head: Omarov Edilbek Omarovich - 1994-1997, Ayazbai Marat Dildabekovich - 1997-2000, Semernin Alexander Nikolaevich - 2000-2019, Dzhakiyaev Dosumbek Kalievich 2011-2023. Baimuratov Dauren Sharipovich -2019-2021, Muratbay Kydyrovich Ibildaev - from 2021 to March 2024. Since March 2024, the head is Erlan Audanbekovich Erubaev.
