The history of the Textile Industry Technology And Materials Science has more than 40 years. The Department was organized by merging several departments, such as "Chemical technology of fibrous materials", "technology of textile materials"and" technology of leather, fur and leather products". The Department was founded by leading experts and scientists in the field of technology and equipment of textile and light industry: Musina T. K., Amreeva T. M., Kutzhanova A. Zh., Abubakirova K. D., Badanov K. I., Doskhozhaev D. T., madiev U. K and others.

In 2013. the Department was renamed the Department of textile industry Technology and materials science. Since 2013 and up to the present, the Department is headed by Ph. D., associate Professor shardarbekMukhamedzhanShardarbekovich.

The main mission of the Department is to train highly qualified specialists in the field of technology for the production of textile and leather and fur materials, taking into account the peculiarities of national and regional interests. To achieve this goal, the Department currently has all the conditions for training highly qualified specialists. There are specialized laboratories for spinning and knitting production, computer classes, and interactive equipment. Modern teaching methods have been introduced into the educational process. Teachers improve their skills by going on national and foreign internships.

A bachelor's degree graduate can perform professional activities (organizational and managerial, production and technological, research, design) related to obtaining new materials, which is aimed at ensuring and improving the quality and safety of light industry products.

Upon completion, the graduate is prepared, in particular, to solve the following professional tasks:

• a) organizational and management activities: organization of development of measures to improve and control the quality of products, and production, testing and operation; control over testing of finished products and material resources received by the enterprise, introduction of modern methods and measuring instruments, control over the manufacture and testing of products;
• b) production and technological activities: ensuring the fulfillment of tasks to improve product quality, improve metrological support; determining the nomenclature of measured and controlled parameters of products and technological processes, optimal standards for measurement accuracy and control reliability, selecting measurement tools, testing and control, developing methods for performing measurements, testing and control;
• C) research activities: analysis of the state and dynamics of product quality; development of plans, programs and methods for testing, measuring and quality control of textile and leather and fur products;
• d) project activities: development of design and technological solutions in the field of product quality assurance; use of modern information technologies in the design of quality management tools and technologies.

A graduate who has completed a bachelor's degree program has the following competencies:

• Knowledge of the requirements for leather, textile and synthetic materials for the manufacture of light industry products; Ability to assess the suitability of materials for a particular light industry product; determine the main parameters when choosing technological modes of Shoe manufacturing; on the basis of deep knowledge of the structure and properties of materials, their assortment, and quality assessment, have the skills to make an informed choice of materials for shoes.
• Knowledge of ways to obtain new textile materials; innovative technologies in the production of textile products.
